Like the concept being, existence is incapable of a real definition because there is nothing in the understanding of the term that can be categorized by some composition. We can say that existence is a perfection, indeed the ultimate perfection of an essence. In all created things existence is the act of essence; whatever a thing is, if it is in act, actual, it exists and therefore has being.
